In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Now, an ally of the Black Dagger Brotherhood will face the challenge of his life and the evil of the ages. Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard living, ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world- to engage in the turf war with the lessers. He's got nothing to lose. His heart belongs to a female vampire, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. If he can't have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers... Fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, found by a miracle, the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back, though even her love may not be enough to save him...

My Review

My first review for this series is for Lover Revealed, the forth book in The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward. I got the series rec through a friend on Shelfari. I am loving them. They are a little more steamy then what I'm used to, but I'm loving them all the same. I love the YA genre, but I kind of got weary of buying books in the teen section at the bookstore and wanted to give PR a chance. Boy, am I glad I did!

If you haven't heard of the series, it's about a "brotherhood" of warrior vampires charged with protecting their race from their enemy species the Lessers (undead vamp-slayers). The vamps in Ward's world don't feed from people to survive; they are just a different species.

I like the twist of having the slayers being the villains. And man are they villains! Ward has created truly unlikeable antagonists without an ounce of redeeming qualities to them.

The brothers are totally badass - alpha males to the extreme. I'm not a fan of long hair or facial tattoos but I'm totally smitten with all of the tough males and their quirks. There's lots of action - both violence and lemons - keeping me hooked to the final page.

In Lover Revealed the story revolves around Butch, one of the human characters in the series. As in the previous three books, it gives the back-story of the character and develops his relationship with his mate (soul mate). Where, of course, crazy fights, torture and trouble ensue. This one is an awesome book in the series. Butch is in love with Marissa, Marissa's in love with Butch, but there's no chosen for her to feed from, and there's something very wrong with Butch. Will they be able to overcome all of the obstacles, and are they meant too? Gripping and fast-paced, it's a definite must read in the Brotherhood series.

My Rating: 5/5

Very First Post

So as of now, this post will be to no-one because it's brand new and I'm still trying to figure this thing out. I've never written a blog before but I've read lots so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

I'm pretty much making this post to figure out my formatting. If you're actually reading this, Hi thanks for dropping by! Hopefully you'll come back when I have something interesting to write about :)
